12TH CUT OFF CALCULATOR
Calculate your out-of-200 cutoff marks for Engineering, Medical, and Agriculture admissions
- Enter Physics & Chemistry: Input your marks out of 100 for both subjects. The calculator will automatically halve them.
- Enter Main Subject: Input your Maths (for Engineering) OR Biology (for Medical/Agri) marks out of 100.
- Get Cutoff: The tool generates your precise ranking score out of 200.
Standard 200-Point Formula:
- Engineering (PCM):
Maths + (Physics ÷ 2) + (Chemistry ÷ 2) - Medical / Bio (PCB):
Biology + (Physics ÷ 2) + (Chemistry ÷ 2) - This is the official formula used by state counseling boards like TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions).

How to Use the 12th Cut Off Calculator
After completing your 12th board exams, securing a seat in top-tier engineering, medical, agriculture, or paramedical colleges rarely depends on your raw total percentage. State counseling boards (such as TNEA in Tamil Nadu) apply specific mathematical weightages to your core science subjects to determine your merit rank. Utilizing a dedicated 12th cut off calculator ensures you know exactly where you stand before the counseling process begins.
The "Out of 200" Cutoff Formula
The 200-point scale assigns a higher weightage (50%) to the most important core subject for your chosen field, while splitting the remaining 50% between Physics and Chemistry.
For Engineering Admissions (PCM)
Engineering fundamentally relies on analytical skills, meaning Mathematics is given 100 points out of the total 200.
- Formula:
Maths + (Physics ÷ 2) + (Chemistry ÷ 2) - Example: If you scored 90 in Maths, 80 in Physics, and 80 in Chemistry, your cutoff is 90 + 40 + 40 = 170 / 200.
For Medical, Paramedical & Agriculture (PCB)
For allied health sciences, nursing, pharmacy, and agriculture counseling, Biology replaces Mathematics as the primary subject.
- Formula:
Biology + (Physics ÷ 2) + (Chemistry ÷ 2) - Note for Botany/Zoology students: Add your Botany and Zoology marks together and divide by 2 to get your base Biology score out of 100 before using this calculator.
What is a Good 12th Cutoff Score?
While admission trends fluctuate yearly based on the difficulty of the board papers and applicant volume, here are the general benchmarks for competitiveness:
| Calculated Cutoff (Out of 200) | Competitiveness & Admission Prospects |
|---|---|
| 190 to 200 | Exceptional (Tier 1 Colleges / Core Branches like CS/IT) |
| 175 to 189 | Highly Competitive (Top State Universities) |
| 150 to 174 | Average / Standard (Tier 2 Colleges / Mid-level branches) |
| Below 150 | Moderate / Passing (Management Quotas / Tier 3 Institutions) |
